Paola Annoni Patel, DDS
Many times, the first words out of a patient’s mouth are, “I’m so afraid of the dentist!” I pride myself in making even the most anxious patients comfortable in my chair. By putting a person at ease, through taking time to listen to and understand their worries and desires, I am able to provide them with the best care. In turn, this helps the person focus on their health and wellbeing.
As a dentist, I love working one-to-one with patients. The work I do impacts all aspects of my patients’ daily lives: whether I am getting someone out of immediate pain, educating a person about their oral and systemic health, or giving a person the ability to smile with confidence, I come into the office excited about the day ahead!
I truly enjoy being on the same team as my patients. Rather than dictating treatment, we work together to find solutions. Once I have educated a patient about their conditions, explaining what I’ve found in their exam and through diagnostic imaging, we discuss treatment options and decide, together, how to proceed. In doing so, we fix the issues that are present and are able to prevent future problems. Seeing each person’s improvement in oral and overall health, from visit to visit, is extremely rewarding.
My ultimate goal is to give people the tools, resources, and comfort to smile with confidence. I’m grateful for a profession that gives me the ability to help people in such a wonderful way.
I graduated from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). Since finishing dental school, I have actively pursued a range of continuing education opportunities, seeking to learn from the leading researchers and practitioners in the field.
I have completed coursework through DOCS Sedation Education and the American Institute of Implant Dentistry. I also take a variety of courses through professional organizations, always looking for new ways to learn and expand my dental knowledge.
Through continuing education, I ensure my patients always receive the most up-to-date, complete treatment options and achieve their healthiest, most confidently beautiful smiles.

I love participating in the Missions of Mercy, or MOM, program. Through the organization, we provide free dental care to underserved populations in Virginia. It is important to give back to and support our community: there are so many people in desperate need to help and without regular access to dental care. Without MOM, many people would be out of options.
Beyond the Practice
Originally from Puerto Rico, I spent most of my growing years in Clearwater, FL, where my parents still live. I have a younger sister who lives in NYC and a younger brother who recently became an FSU Seminole. I am Puerto Rican and Dominican and am fluent in Spanish.
My husband Ryan and I now call Arlington our home. Ryan and I met at Columbia Dental School and were married in the summer of our third year. He’s currently in residency for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Washington Hospital Center.
I love cooking and all things food. When I’m not in the office, you’ll often find me cooking up something in my kitchen or exploring the DC/VA food scene with Ryan. I love cooking so much that I was selected as one of the Top 40 Cooks in America on Season 8 of Masterchef! You can see me in action on the first episode of that season.
